& the next & the next

 

 
like the savior
mis-timed rises.

The invisible listener
is next to my breast.

Climbing
to stir the pool of fire with an iron rod

At stroke of midday
God:

Whether one speaks to the Lord
a reader in the future or a writer in the past

the nun
stirs   

committed to tones of winter gray,
