I Brush My Teeth Naked

Sometimes when I’m tired
and just out of the morning shower
I brush my teeth naked
in front of the mirror
my fat stomach no longer hidden
looking like a ball of dough
dropped on the floor
of a cafeteria,
running my hands over
my unshaved face that
isn’t rugged but just
dirty-looking
and I say to myself
“look at those pearly whites.”
